Nikil Saval’s “Cubed: A Secret History of the Workplace” : Up Next In The Blog!

Saval "Cubed" ‘does for the offices what Foucault did for prisons and hospitals’

Keep your eyes peeled and your mind open!

Up next in the blog someone who knows the ins and outs of the supposedly ‘banal’ office cubicle.

Nikil Saval says that “Cubed” is a social history exploring what it meant to be working in a cubicle farm with an upward mobility aspiration. With a dash of journalism here and a few speculations about the future there this is a fascinating intertextual read.

Cubed: A Secret History of the Workplace

And even though this book is *actually* inspired by C. Wright Mill’s White Collars it may well be a homage to C in itself. From Clerks to [white] Collars, be it in Countinghouses or Companies there’s always Cubes, Cells and Cubicles. Drinking Coffee over Centuries, working with Computers, on Chairs and by Cabinets – it’s all in there. And I’m looking forward to exploring this Conformity with you next time.
